This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete. Abstraction exists along a continuum. Total abstraction bears no trace of any reference to anything recognizable and one is unlikely to find references to naturalistic entities.

Abstract
This form of art uses visual langusge of form, colour and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art.

psychedelic art
this is any kind of art work inspired by psychedelic experiences; an experience characterized by the perception of aspects of one's mind usually unavailable to ordinary waking consciousness, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ordinary restraints.
it is usually induced by drugs that alter cognition and perception. Psychedelic Art is informed by the notion that altered states of consciousness produced by psychedelic drugs are a source of artistic inspiration.

Resist dyeing
Resist dyeing is a technique of dyeing textiles with patterns. Methods are used to "resist" or prevent the dye from reaching all the cloth, thereby creating a pattern and ground. The most common forms use wax, some type of paste, or a mechanical resist that manipulates the cloth such as tying or stitching. Another form of resist involves using a chemical agent in a specific type of dye that will repel another type of dye printed over the top. The most well-known varieties today include tie-dye and Batik.
Tie-dyeing became fashionable in the West in the late 1960s and early 1970s as part of hippie style. it was popularized in the united states by musicians such as John Sebastian, janice Joplin, The Grateful Dead and Joe Crocker.

Mosaic
The art of of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other colored material. This art is viewed in my opinion, as one of the most beautiful and creative forms of art. Mosaic is the decorative art of creating pictures and patterns on a surface by setting small pieces of coloured glass, marble or other materials in a bed of cement, plaster or other adhesives.
Mosaics were developed extensively by craftsmen, mostly in the form of pavements. later, during the era of Byzantine art, artists specialized in creating mosaic design for walls and were reknowned for their shimmering masterpieces of gold and multi-coloured glass.

African art
African art constitutes one of the most diverse legacies on earth. Though many casual observers tend to generalize "traditional" African art, the continent is full of people, societies, and civilizations, each with a unique visual special culture. The definition also includes the art of the African Diasporas, such as the art of African Americans. Despite this diversity, there are some unifying artistic themes when considering the totality of the visual culture from the continent of Africa.
Traditional art describes the most popular and studied forms of African art which are typically found in museum collections. Africa is also home to a great and thriving contemporary art culture. This has been sadly understudied until recently, due to scholars' and art collectors' emphasis on traditional art.

Outrageous fashion
Fashion is constantly evolving. this seems like a good sign initially, but with the recent trends that grace the cover of magazines or the body of celebrities, one begins to think otherwise!. in the olden days, fashion used to accompany a sense of decency and style. recently, anything from a fishnet to a meat costume could pass for fashionable!!!.

Shakespeare
William Shakespeare, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Many of his plays were published in editions of varying quality and accuracy during his lifetime.
Shakespeare was a respected poet and playwright in his own day, but his reputation did not rise to its present heights until the 19th century. His early plays were mainly comedies and histories, genres he raised to the peak of sophistication and artistry by the end of the 16th century. He then wrote mainly tragedies until about 1608, including Hamlet, King Lear, and Macbeth, considered some of the finest works in the English language.

Italian art
From the outstanding Byzantine mosaics in the churches of Ravenna to the Greek temples of Sicily and Roman amphitheatres in a number of cities, Italian art in all its forms of expression magically spans the passing of the centuries, from the Roman Empire to the present day, in a continual succession of visual surprises for visitors to enjoy.Italy is the land of Donatello, Tintoretto, Titian and Giorgione, all painters of extraordinary calibre who produced vast quantities of works.
Social media
The social media as defined by Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein, is "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of web 2.0, which allows the creation and exchange of user generated content.
In my opinion, social media is a cheap and easy way of gaining popularity or status these days!. from facebook to twitter and Youtube, people have been able to gain cheap popularity by just posting videos of them airing their personal opinions or just performing random acts, most of which are usually exciting to see!.
more exciting is the notion of Youtube "celeb".funny how people post random (but exciting) videos and then command a huge following, even down to appearing at fashion events and walking on thee red carpet!. cool!!!
so, here are a few videos I found to further stress the point. Enjoy!!!

African Names
Hey there,
I don't know if people here in kingston are familiar with African names which ususally have a short form, then the names extend or "morph" into some long ass word, people here have a hard time pronouncing. anyways, the issue that brought about this topic, was my experience with the cops (on one random night i cant remeber, but it was last week tho). we went to the grocery store to get some stuff, immediately we came out, alas! there was a cop car waiting outside for us!!. according to them, my friend's plate number had expired. anyways, the other cop decided to ask me a few questions and the following ensued btw us
Cop: can I have ID?
me: sure (hand driver's license to him)
Cop: so it's Toluwaleesee aliyoou?
me: ( correct full name,Tolu-walase Aliu, sry if you still cant pronounce that lol)
Cop: that's such a long name, do you belong to some tribe or clan? or is it ur dad's name passed down to you?.(loool)
me: no, just a typical Nigerian name
cop: oh, i see, guess your folks just wanted you to be good with alphabets!!!!!
I found the "experience" quite amusing, it also made me ponder why our names are so bogus, but then, I remebered, they all mean something. mine means God's will be done which is four words transcribed into a single word in my language. So I guess knowing your name has a good meaning also counts! but of course we also have "extreme cases" where even I have to wonder, what were his parents thinking???.....The longest, crazziest, one i ever heard......dnt think you're even ready for this......and it is...................................................................................................................................................
.....................................................................................................................................................
....................................................................................................................................................
OSCAR, OGHENEVUOGHAGHAESHARETURI!!!!!...dont ask me cos i dnt even know what that means!!!!

CHINA
Chinese art has varied through history and is continuously changing even with influence of western culture today. early forms of chinese art were made from pottery and jade. in early imperial china, porcelain was introduced and began to be refined up to the point that in english today, the word china is now synonymous with refined porcelain.
New forms of Chinese art were heavily influenced by the New culture Movement, which adopted western techniques and employed social realism. The cultural revolution has greatly shaped Chinese art and chinese artists have continued to produce a wide range of works which have become very popular in the international art market.

Art
Encompassing music, literature, film, photography, sculpture and paintings, art has been around for centuries and still a major influence on the way we think, act and see things in our world today. Traditionally, art was used to refer to any skill or mastery. This condition has changed drastically since the romantic era where art came to be seen as "a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science". I personally would like to define art as "a window through which individuals or people discover themselves and relate to the society"
Art could be used in expressing one's mood or feelings which would be reflected in their works.Sadly, not everyone can truly express their feeling through paintings, movie or literature as this generally refers to an artiste who is talented in some area. that is to say, everyone has some form of art in mind, but expression is what truely defines art.
Talking about business today, art is a major influence and selling point. from popular literature like Oliver Twist, Gulliver's travels to the Harry Potter series, from movies like Titanic to Avatar in three dimensional picture, art form is constantly changing and improving. Tv commercials, programs and the internet daily emphasize the importance of art in our lives. some of these commercials cost lots of cash to air in order to pass across a certain message. web pages, pictures, videos and pop up displays are also a function of art.
Science exists, but not without some form of art. the clothes we wear have art on them(including all the crazy designs and the different ways in which people wear clothes today). essentially, art is everywhere, art is a major influence on human existence. we all experience art everyday of our lives in one way way or the other.
